You may not believe this but I was a scared kid. Like super freakishly afraid of the dark, the basement, and any other creepy things. I was such a skittish kid that even spooky music could set off my imagination and my feet running toward safety.
Halloween is this month and while I find it adorable to see all my young nieces and nephews in their cute and innocent costumes this holiday also celebrates by aggressive displays of dark, demonic, and frightening images. I mean have you seen some of the window displays right now…I get the heebie jeebies just walking past them.
For the sake of parents everywhere, I wanted to address a common occurrence for kids…and, let’s be honest, sometimes adults as well. Having the courage to face our fear of the dark, the scary, and the things that terrorize us. The good news is as a Nerd of the Word and a follower of Jesus, we have the power to overcome the fear we face.

Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for the gift and power of your Word. Help us to equip ourselves with your truth and to use the word of God as a sword to slay our fears. Lord help us as parents to equip our children with powerful passages of scripture. When we face things that make us tremble in fear, remind us of your great power and love`. Jesus you died to conquer every creepy, scary, fear-inducing thing on earth including death. May we live a life that looks like we believe that truth through and through?
In Jesus Name,
Amen
