Long Bio
Jess Carey is the host of the Nerd of the Word Podcast, an award-winning Christian non-fiction author, and a dynamic public speaker. She holds a certificate of pastoral ministry from Hillsong Leadership College as well as a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree from New York University. She and her husband Alex have moved more than eight times across over 11,000 miles in the past decade, including a stint internationally. From acting in New York to running businesses, she has consistently stepped into the unknown. She has always been a dreamer forced to overcome a perfectionist’s fear of failure. Risk didn’t come naturally, but it has been woven into the fabric of her life.
She has more than 17 years of service in ministry spanning across the worship team, kids, youth, women’s ministry, and service leading. In addition, she and her husband teach marriage preparation courses and are peer-to-peer couples coaches.
Her life is marked by building family, faith, church, and community. Her heart is to see every person living in the God-calling and purposes for which they were created. She lives in Phoenix with her two beautiful kids, her husband Alex, and Goldendoodle Pearl. They pray that they will never stop celebrating life and all its beautiful twists and turns.
